SUMMARY:The first year of science with the James Webb Space Telescope
DESCRIPTION:The first year of science with the James Webb Space Telescope\n
Dr. Macarena García Marín\n\n \nThe Webb Telescope, the next flagsh
ip astrophisical mission from NASA, ESA and the CSA, will be launch on Dec
ember 18th 2021. With a 6.5 m primary mirror, it harbors 4 state-of-the-ar
t instruments with powerful spectroscopic, imaging and coronagraphic capab
ilities. During Cycle 1 more than 10000 hours of observing time have been
allocated to 400 programs and over 2500 worldwide researchers. From the ep
och of reinonization and the evolution of galaxies, to studies of the inte
restellar medium, evolved stars, debris disks and planetary atmospheres, n
early every area of astrophysics and planetary astronomy are already repre
sented in the first year of observations. This contribution will explore W
ebb's main areas of studies in Cycle 1, that will certainly open a new spa
ce for astrophysical discovery. \n
