SUMMARY:Exploring the diversity of exoplanet atmospheres from the ground wi
th the ACCESS Survey
DESCRIPTION:Exploring the diversity of exoplanet atmospheres from the groun
d with the ACCESS Survey \nMr. Néstor Espinoza\n\nOne of the most excitin
g possibilities enabled by transiting exoplanets is to measure their atmos
pheric properties through the technique of transmission spectroscopy: the
variation of the transit depth as a function of wavelength due to starligh
t interacting with the atmosphere of the exoplanet. Motivated by the need
of optical transmission spectra of exoplanets, we recently launched the Ar
izona-CfA-Católica Exoplanet Spectroscopy Survey (ACCESS), which ai
ms at studying the atmospheres of ~20 exoplanets ranging from super-Earths
to hot-Jupiters in the entire optical atmospheric window using ground-bas
ed facilities. In this talk, I will present the survey, the astrostatistic
al challenges it poses and first results.
