Mikhal Modestov got his PhD in Umeå University in Sweden in 2012. The same year he got a postdoc fellow from Nordita (Nordita institute of theoretical physics, Stockholm) and work with prof. Axel Brandenburg on magnetic field generation in laser plasma. After that he was awarded three-years International Postdoc Grant from the Swedish Research Council (VR) for collaborative research in Princeton University. In 2019 he join the IAC as a postdoc in the PI2FA project.

Mikhail's area of expertice comprises linear and non-linear stability properties of a phase transition within different media. The considered problems include chemical combustion deflagration, laser ablation, waves in quantum plasmas, doping front in organic semicondutors, magnetization wave in molecular magnets, nuclear burning in supernovas.
