General Statement and Description Nature of appointment and salary
General Statement and Description In the framework of the SOLAIRE Marie Curie Network, two positions are available to carry out research at the recent postdoctoral level. These positions are open to young researchers working in any of the fields covered by the SOLAIRE network. SOLAIRE is a joint initiative of 12 European Universities and Research Institutes and a private R&D company (see http://www.solairenetwork.eu). The appointing institution can be any of the following members of the network: Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, Tenerife, Spain Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, Belgium Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, Lindau, Germany Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics, Oslo, Norway Observatoire de Paris-Meudon, France Universita di Catania, Italy.
These positions are open to young researchers working in any of the fields covered by the SOLAIRE network. Priority will be given to candidates whose research activity can clearly contribute to enhancing the interaction and collaboration between the nodes of the network. When applying, candidates are advised to state their preference concerning appointing node(s) and to mention any interest in (or specific plans of) collaborating with further nodes of the network.
Each of these two positions can last for up to 12 months. Due to administrative constraints, the contracts cannot extend beyond May 31st, 2011. Hence, priority will be given to candidates who can start as early as possible after the end of the selection process. It is recommended that the candidates state their preference(s) concerning starting date. When contacting the candidates in the short list, they will be made a specific offer concerning host institution, duration of contract and start of the appointment. Salary and additional benefits will follow the applicable national and European Union rules. The salary for this employment is adapted to the country of the host institution following the rules laid out by the European Commission (EC). The basic gross salary is augmented by a mobility allowance depending on the marital status of the applicant. In addition, the appointees will receive travel allowances in accordance with the EC's rules for Marie Curie Networks. At the time of signing the contract, the successful candidates must be in possession of a PhD and have between 4 and 10 years of research experience after obtaining a degree that gives access to doctoral studies in the country in which the degree was obtained. The position is open to nationals of any EU or associated country other than the country of the appointing node or to persons having resided in the EU for at least 4 of the 5 years prior to the appointment. Additionally, at the start of their appointment, the candidates may not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the appointing node for more than 12 months in the previous 3 years.
