The Signal Processing Unit (SPU) is a PACS warm electronics box to perform
onboard science data processing namely data compression. The SPU box has a
cubic shape, its envelope is 270 x 228 x 186 mm3, is mat black painted with
an emissivity of 0,9, and weight 7,47 kg, see Fig. 1.1. It houses two stacked
redundant units which operate in cold redundancy under power supply control
of the spacecraft. Is located on the spacecraft service module (SVM) at about
300K. |

IAC MAIN CONTRIBUTION TO PACS
- SPU ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT: SIGNAL PROCESSING UNITS (SPU SWL AND LWL),
POWER SUPPLY UNIT (PSU),
AND DATA ACQUISITION UNIT (DAU).
- ONBOARD SOFTWARE: START-UP SOFTWARE AND LOW-LEVEL SOFTWARE DRIVERS.
- GROUND SCIENCE DATA PROCESSING FOR THE PACS INSTRUMENT CONTROL CENTER (ICC).
