FIRST ExGal-Twin PROJECT MEETING

We are pleased to announce that the first annual meeting of the ExGal-Twin consortium will be held in the Canary Islands, in the city of La Laguna. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our beautiful island of Tenerife!
Program
Below is the meeting program. It includes a combination of talks and dedicated discussion sessions, along with coffee/lunch breaks and social activities.
Social Activities
Welcome Reception: Kick off the meeting with a welcome cocktail on Monday evening, from 18:00 to 20:00, at Hotel Nivaria in La Laguna.
Teide Excursion: On Wednesday afternoon, we will visit the Teide Observatory, together with the participants of the Euclid meeting. We will depart by bus from Campus Guajara at 14:15. The visit includes a tour of the telescopes and a stunning sunset above the clouds, weather permitting. The bus will return to Hotel Nivaria and Campus Guajara around 20:30.
Important Tips:
- Warm clothing is highly recommended as temperatures at 2,400m can be quite cold. You can check the weather conditions here: https://www.iac.es/en/observatorios-de-canarias/teide-observatory/weather
- Bring sun protection, water, and snacks to ensure your comfort throughout the visit.
Social Dinner: Join us for the meeting dinner on Thursday at 20:00 at Taberna El Remojo , a typical Canarian restaurant in La Laguna.

Logistics
Travel information
Tenerife has two airports:
- Tenerife North Airport (TFN): Located just 8 km from the venue (approximately 15 minutes by taxi), this airport primarily serves domestic flights within Spain.
- Tenerife South Airport (TFS): Situated 62 km from the venue (about 50 minutes by car), this airport offers direct flights to most major European cities.
If your journey includes a connection in mainland Spain, we recommend flying into Tenerife North Airport for convenience. After arriving at TFN airport, we recommend you take a taxi to La Laguna or Santa Cruz. The official taxi dispatchers speak English, the drivers may not. A taxi to La Laguna should cost around 10 euros, to Santa Cruz around 20 euros, and you can pay with a card.
For those arriving at Tenerife South Airport, the taxi ride to the venue costs approximately €90. Alternatively, there are public bus options available ( info on TFS website ), though travel times may vary. The bus line 10 ( timetable ) connects TFS to the bus station in Santa Cruz, from where connections by tram (to La Laguna) or taxi are readily available.
Accommodation
The venue is located at Campus Guajara, just 10 minutes by public transport from the city center of La Laguna and approximately 25 minutes from Santa Cruz. It is easily accessible by public transport, with several bus lines and the Tenerife Tram (Tranvía) connecting the area to both cities. Both La Laguna and Santa Cruz offer a wide range of lodging options. We strongly recommend securing your accommodation as early as possible.

Venue
The annual meeting will be held at the Aulario Central on Campus de Guajara, University of La Laguna. The venue is located approximately 2 km from the city center of San Cristóbal de La Laguna (commonly referred to as "La Laguna") and about 6 km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island's capital. The historical center of La Laguna is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The venue can be reached most easily by tram from either La Laguna or Santa Cruz, tramstop "Campus Guajara".
