About this image: Officially cataloged as a peculiar dwarf spiral galaxy, NGC 2976 features a rather chaotic inner structure, as seen in this image. Being part of the M81 group of galaxies, it is possible that gravitational interactions with other members of the group resulted in the observed distorted appearance.
