Dr. Galsgaard will give a Seminar at the IAC on December 4th 2014 entitled Data driven modelling of outflow from active regions.

Dr. Klaus Galsgaard is an Associated professor at the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark).

Dr. Galsgaard got his PhD from University of Copenhagen in 1996 and worked first as a Post Doc (1996-1999) and then as an Advanced PPARC fellow  (1999-2003) at the department of Mathematics and Statistics at the  University of St. Andrews, Scotland. Then as a Carlsberg Post Doc (1003-1006) at NBI before obtaining an Associated Professor position at the NBI in 2006.

His work has been focused on numerical modeling of coronal phenomena in the  solar atmosphere, using 3D non-ideal MHD simulations. The work has concerned
the general heating mechanisms of the corona, the influence of the magnetic topology on the locations of magnetic reconnection, magnetic flux emergence  from the convection zone into the corona and the formation of emergence driven jets in the corona.

The objetive of the stay was to collaborate with Prof. F. Moreno-Insertis to study the physics of the EUV/X-Ray jets observed in the solar atmosphere and of the associated eruptive phenomena.
