The AO and MCAO for the 4m European Solar Telescope

We give an overview of the Adaptive Optics (AO) and Multi-conjugate Adaptive Optics (MCAO) system of the planned 4\,m European Solar Telescope (EST). The two possible configurations of the wavefront sensors are explained. The effect of pupil segmentation due to the telescope spiders is discussed.
