Although it is not possible to give back vision to most of the blind people, technology is improving its life quality. One of the last inventions has been developed by spanish scientists from the Universidad de La Laguna (Tenerife) and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias. It consist of glasses with two microcameras that collect information about the objects that are in front of the person, a microprocessor that processes the data and turns it to sounds that the blind person can listen through earpieces that are in the sideburns of the glasses.
Thus they can detect the objects and, thanks to the use of two cameras, compute de distances to each one. Although the system demands of a previous training, it will allow to improve the perception these people's surronundings.
