HARMONI
Integral field spectrograph for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT)

Electronics

IAC is responsible and leads the electronics of HARMONI. A dozen electronic cabinets will be designed and manufactured with tight requirements in electromagnetic compatibility, vibration, temperature isolation, electrical safety and of course the control of more than one hundred motors and sensors, many of them working at cryogenic temperatures. All cabling and fiber optic links required for interconnecting the different parts of the instrument and to the Service Connection Point (SCP) of the telescope will also be designed and manufactured.

A number of electronic control systems, with their connection cables, will be required at the different institutions participating in the consortium in order to be able to complete the Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test (MAIT) phase of the subsystems. These control systems will also be designed manufactured and delivered under IAC responsibility.
