Stage I Results (Multiplexer Detector Visible)

The goals of this stage were:

We demonstrate for the first time the operation of the main mechanical units (except the CSU)  at the operational temperatures and in situ, determine interferences, an initial check of the image quality, the tilt of the detector and the focal plane of EMIR and the repeatibility of all the process. The individual components have already been tested previously.  A very important part of the AIV process is the integration and debugging of the control system. For this stage, only the  basic capability of moving the wheels and DTU was required.

The results, can be summarised as follows:
  • There are no large differences in tilt (detector-focal plane) found between the values at room temperature and in cold (77K).
  • The DTU has been centered and calibrated. It has an accurracy of 0.06 µm and a repeatability of 1 µm.
  •  Optical quality. We have found a geometrical distortion (mean value) of 1,27% and a plate scale at detector of 0,193 arcsec/px (X and Y, see the figures) .
