Verification Tests
The system level AIV EMIR (Assebly Integration & Verification) is based around cool downs (or cycles) of the cryostat. The goal is to demonstrate the operation of all the mechanical units, the control software etc., after the whole integration of the system (at the operational temperatures and cryogenical temperatures). Each cool down have had clearly defined goals.
The AIV phase makes use of the 4 detectors (the ceramic block , the multiplexor (MUX), the engineering array and the final science grade array) with the aim maximising efficiency and of having the systems and procedures sufficiently well tested and safe so as to minimise the risk of damage to the science grade array.
